The Department of English Language and Literature Has New Teaching Staff

The Department of English Language and Literature at International Burch University was founded in 2008. Since then it has had a steady rise to global acknowledgment, producing quality graduates, and hosting numerous prominent scholars and researchers. With the annual Foreign Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics Conference (FLTAL), the English Department has brought thousands of language experts and language enthusiasts to Sarajevo.

Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azamat Akbarov is also Dean of Faculty of Education. In academic 2014/15 teaching staff of the department was enriched with new teaching staff: Asst. Prof. Dr. Senad Bečirović, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mirna Begagić, Asst. Prof. Dr. Vildana Dubravac, Language Instructor Laura Wray and Language Instructor Anna Cunniffe.

From its early beginnings, the Department strove for excellence in academic development and scholarly research, and it maintains the same goal to this day. It offers a collegial and supportive environment, both socially and intellectually.

Many of their course sizes are small by design to ensure better student-professor communication, while their advising system focuses on individual needs and capabilities.

In the future, the department will strive to grow even more, while retaining the focus on quality that has supported our development up till now. They aim to give their students opportunities that might otherwise be inaccessible to them, and create generations of intelligent, creative, and flexible graduates who will be ready to take up the responsibility of leadership, and make a difference in their local and global community.
