On 22 December 2010, the British Council Country Director Mr. Michael Moore participated in the lecture at the International Burch University on the theme of ‘Cultural relations and its role in developing trust across communities’.
Organized by the Asst. Prof. Dr. Azamat Akbarov, Head of the English Department, the event took place at Burch University with the purpose of bringing together students to discuss what is meant by cultural relations and the different ways they can be used to address conflict and to build peace.
Mr. Michael Moore presented different empowering nature of getting those who often are not heard to speak out and be recorded. Cultural relations are also broader than the interplay of national interests in that they include cross-national interactions such as educational exchange, philanthropic activities, and various movements to promote human rights or the protection of the natural environment.
The conference is one in a series that aims to identify best practices among cross-cultural relations to re-establish normality necessary for sustained peace.
