USA Day Held at Burch

The Project Office along with the Linguistics Club organized colorful event for students

On 21st of February International Burch University was a host for USA Day, joint organization of the Project Office and Linguistics club with an aim to bring closer American culture to students, through the hip-hop music show, lectures on many interesting topics, quilting workshop and the movie projection.

Thomas E. Mesa, Public Affairs Officer of US Embassy lectured about the first American president George Washington, and Prof.Dr. Zvonimir Radeljkovic delivered a lecture on Johnatan Franzen's novel "Freedom". During the “Poem Hour”, students recited poems by prominent American poets including Emily Dickinson, Charles Bukowski, Edgar Alan Poe and many others.

Later on students attended the quilt art workshop by Kathy Cherry, and student lectures on prominent American figures, American architecture, touristic destinations in America, Hollywood movie production and finally the event was concluded with the “Freedom Writers” movie projection.

Along with student activities, American Corner Sarajevo also presented their activities of promotion mutual understanding between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States, and reinforcement of intercultural exchange and friendship. Representatives distributed promotional material and invited all interested parties to visit their premises in the City Center.
