Italian Ambassador Held a Lecture for Students

On Friday, April 25, H.E. Raimondo De Cardona, the Ambassador of Italy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a lecture entitled „BiH Relations with Italy and the EU“


H.E. Raimondo De Cardona paid a visit to Rector, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Padem, and expressed his pleasure for being invited and visiting Burch University for the first time. H.E. De Cardona was impressed to see the size of the University and its facilities.

The lecture started with a brief display of the political situation in Europe, in the period of 1918 - 1939. After that, H.E. De Cardona talked about the European integration and relations, through European Coal and Steel Community and European Economic Community, which led to the creation of the European Union (EU). Students showed huge interest, which resulted in a very interactive and successful lecture. H.E. De Cardona also mentioned the importance of one monetary system, Schengen Area and ways of making decisions in the EU.

Approaching to the end of the lecture, Ambassador mentioned the Western Balkans and described it as a “grey area of Europe“. He concluded by saying that Bosnia and Herzegovina must adapt to the European standards in order to become a full-fledged member of the community.
