60 students from seven universities in two countries presented their research papers.
With the presence of the student participants of the symposium and experienced academicians from the University of Sarajevo, University of Zenica, University of Bihać, University of Tuzla, Gediz University and Mugla University in Turkey, and the host International Burch University in campus of the Burch University Second Student Symposium was opened. This symposium is a unique event in our country because it offers undergraduate studies students to learn how to explore the relevant issues, write the paper, explain it in public and publish a paper that will be of benefit to themselves and others. Also this is an opportunity for students to connect with colleagues from their field of studies and at early age start building their professional network.
During the opening ceremony the organizer and coordinator of the event, Dr. Azamat Akbarov, addressed the audience saying that "the aim of organizing such event is a gathering of young people and giving them an opportunity to learn through practice. Burch University organizes such extra-curricular activities for all students who want to improve their skills and enjoy the sweet taste of research for new knowledge, learning and transferring knowledge to others" said Akbarov and wished success in the work to all of participants.
There were also short speeches held by Assist. Prof. Dr. Günay Karlı, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amir Pušina the University of Sarajevo, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulfikar Bayraktar from Gediz University, and Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nebojša Vasić from the University of Zenica, who greeted participants and stressed the importance of early involvement of students in the flows of scientific conferences in order to gain experience and build networks of colleagues from other institutions. Vasić also said "that during their own presentation students will be able to better understand the role of teachers and observing colleagues will also have the opportunity to learn a lot” and he thanked Burch University for the organization of 2. During the second Student Symposium, which has the international character, 60 students from seven universities will present papers in the field of humanities and social sciences, engineering and technology. Abstracts of papers are published in the Proceedings Book, and participants will receive Certificates of Participation, and get the unique opportunity to share experiences and socialize with their peers and professors.
