AALBiH Became the Member of AILA

Association for the Applied Linguistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AALBiH), besides being the first organization on the governmental level, is also the first one from Bosnia and Herzegovina to join International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA).


Established and officially introduced on March 27, 2014 the first Association for the Applied Linguistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AALBiH) is first of its kind in the country. The initiative for starting such an organization started at the International Burch University, and was supported by all the state universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the British Council, and invited Professor Victoria Murphy from University of Oxford, who attended the presentation ceremony.

AALBiH, besides being the first organization on the governmental level, is also the first one from Bosnia and Herzegovina to join International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA) numbering more than 8000 members all over the world. This accession is a very important step in the future linguistic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Association for the Applied Linguistics in Bosnia and Herzegovina was founded in order to facilitate and unite all pioneers and those interested in the applied linguistics in one place, as well as to bring the old linguistics glory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The long-term goal of AALBiH organization is to expand scientific potentials of this country to the region and beyond. This goal is being supported by constant organization of seminars, discussion panels and conferences, including the cooperation signed with Croatia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Turkey and UK.
