Two members of our teaching staff from the Department of Architecture of Faculty of Engineering and IT were part of nationally important project Bosnian Standard BAS EN 1990 in Bosnian language. Senior Assistant M. Sc. Aldin Varenikić is one of the translators of EN 1990, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Sanin Džidić was coordinating efforts in this process in capacity of Chairman of the BAS/TC 58-Eurocodes.
The first EN 1990 Eurocode was officially adopted as Bosnian Standard BAS EN 1990 in Bosnian language, since December 31, 2014. The EN Eurocodes are a series of 10 European Standards, EN 1990 - EN 1999, providing a common approach for the design of buildings and other civil engineering works and construction products.
Assist. Prof Dr. Sanin Džidić, officially announced this achievement to the Bosnian civil engineering community and public at the workshop “Introduction to Eurocodes“ that was held on January 27, 2015 and organized by Institute for Standardization of BiH (BAS), Office for Standardization, Metrology and Testing of Czech Republic (UNMZ) and Czech Republic through Czech Development Agency (ČRA).
Members of the Technical Committee 58 - Eurocodes of the Institute for Standardization BiH conducted whole procedure in translation and review, while legal procedure including public debate was conducted by Institute for Standardization BiH. This was the first step of Bosnia and Herzegovina in approaching EU in this field of expertise.
