Intensive Workshop on TESOL Material Development

This Workshop, organized by School of Liberal Arts of Indiana University, USA– the long time partner of Educational Faculty of BURCH University in Sarajevo, is the first workshop on TESOL development to be held in this region.


Professor Thomas A. Upton is a Professor of English, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs of School of Liberal Arts of Indiana University and Director of Program for Intensive English (PIE) at Indiana University, USA.

The three-day Workshop, which was held on December 14-16, covered the most important topics in TESOL material development.

December 14 covered the basic themes on “Material Development” and 
“Course Needs Analysis, Why and How,” while in the next two days, Professor Upton spoke about “Writing Goals and Objectives to Guide Materials,” “Adopting, Adapting and Designing Materials” and “Practicing Materials Development.”

The participants in this workshop had the opportunity to introduce themselves more to the TESOL material design, and after the completion of the workshop they were awarded “Certificate of Completion” with the logos of both universities.
