Thirty programmers in 10 teams participated in the recently held first Hackathon competition in our country. It is a marathon for developers that lasted continuously for 48 hours, during which the teams worked on developing applications. International Burch University students, Galaktikosi team, also took part in this competition.
Competition organizer, HUB 387, for the first Hackathon in our country engaged mentors who came to Sarajevo from Silicon Valley and San Francisco. All participants of Hackathon had the opportunity to listen to their lectures, and prepare themselves better for the competition.
In the week ahead, the task of competitors is to introduce the general public with the applications and collect as many votes for their solutions. This is one of the items that will be evaluated, and for this purpose a web page was made, where the general public can try out the application and find out more details about the candidates.
Galaktikosi, a team of International Burch University students, is participating the competition with their application Pay&Go, which was designed and implemented for only 48 hours.

Pay and Go is all about simplifying processes in gastronomy by providing a fantastic user experience, from the initial order to payment. Pay and Go uses NFC enabled devices to scan a unique NFC token which is tied to a consumers table. Through the app they can browse the menu, find out more about the dishes, drinks, order what they want and directly pay via Google Wallet. The restaurant owner gets a message with the dish they’ve ordered, detailed statistics of the restaurant and his current balance.
This means no more waiting in lines; no more worrying if we have enough cash!PAY & GO saves us the trouble – it is the easiest way to order and pay your meal.
