In the conference hall of the International Burch University, freshmen from all study programs gathered today at 10:00 AM for the official Welcoming and Orientation Ceremony. The ceremony, attended by all academic and administrative staff and freshmen students, started with performance of national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and continued with the promotion movie of the university.
First speaker was the university rector, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uzunoğlu, who greeted students and introduced them with greatest successes made last year by students and teams in domestic and local science and sport competitions, and university in general, of which the most important one is institutional accreditation by Higher Education Agency (HEA). Rector Uzunoğlu expressed warm welcome to all freshmen, encouraging them to study hard and work on constant improvement of themselves. He underlined that students can always find all kinds of support from every member of Burch family, and wished them all of success during studies.
Members of the Basketball Club Burch and their coach were invited to stage, and captain Kerim Kurtagić invited all students to come to matches and support them.
Kemal Benk, Office of Alumni Relations and Career Services Coordinator, held short presentation about student opportunities, in terms of joining student clubs and sport teams, and moderator Kemal Balihodžić introduced heads of organizational units at the University.
At the end, newly engaged lecturer and Head of Genetics and Bioengineering Department, Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović held short motivational speech, emphasizing that students, their dreams and their future are the most important issues, which was awarded with great applause. The speech was ended with takni selfie picture of Prof. Dr. Marjanović with present guests and students.
All students got the Student Handbook, which contains the most important information for facilitating start of freshmen student days, and after the general welcoming ceremony, all departments organized orientation meeting for freshmen in their own premises.
