On November 7, 2014 International Burch University was a host for promotion of the book "Forensic DNA Applications", whose authors are experts in the fields of forensic genetics in BiH - Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović, Croatia - Prof. Dr. Dragan Primorac, and USA - Prof. Dr. Moses Schanfield.
The promotion of the book was attended by several hundreds of guests, representatives of academic, political and social spheres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as by a large number of students.
As a host, International Burch University Rector, Prof. Mehmet Uzunoğlu addressed the audience stating his honor and pleasure of welcoming authors of the book and guests. Rector Uzunoğlu underlined that Burch University provide all kinds of support to scientific research in the country, and beyond and will continue to do so in future.
From Institute for Genetic and Bioengineering Technology, Prof.Dr. Kasim Bajrović, promoter of the book, tried to explain its importance in short.
Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanovic, was particularly pleased that among the large number of attendees see a lot of students, stating that promoted book will be of great benefit to those who deal with forensic genetics, as well as students of this and related programs of study.
Well known Croatian scientist, Prof. Dr. Dragan Primorac, one of the authors of the book also held his lecture “Past, Present and Future of Forensic DNA”. He said that idea to publish a book was born nearly a decade and a half ago, but because of the seriousness of the work and responsible approach, publishing lasted quite long.
"How important is this field" said Primorac "is evidenced by the fact that there are some completely innocent people accused and spent a decade or two in prison, and methods of forensic genetics finally proved that they have nothing to do with the crime for which they were prosecuted and convicted."
After promotion of the book "Forensic DNA Applications" An Interdisciplinary Approach in Sarajevo, it will be presented in some Asian cities.
