BURCH Student as a Participant at the “Memory and Reconciliation” Seminar

The seminar is intended for young people from the countries of the Western Balkans, Poland and Germany. It was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Poland and the Krzyzowa Foundation, in cooperation with the European Commission.

This year, 23 young people attended the seminar, and Melisa had the privilege of being one of three selected participants from the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The main goal of the seminar is to present a model of reconciliation between Germany and Poland, in the hope that it can serve as a model for overcoming conflicts between the Balkan countries.

In addition to learning about Polish-German reconciliation, participants have the opportunity to get to know each other and get closer to young people from other countries, and to get to know them from a completely new angle: not as enemies or members of the “other side”, but as persons similar to them, with whom they have much more similarities than differences.
