International Burch University Linguistics Club organized a seminar on “Daily Discourse in English” by Prof. Dr. Igor Lakić, Dean of Institute for Foreign Languages, University of Montenegro that was held on on 22nd of October in the University premises.

Prof. Lakić gave a seminar on how to analyze discourse as a process. Explaining the bond between meaning and the form, he shed light on some of linguistics terms such as pragmatics and stylistics, and later made the distinctions between discourse and text analysis. Referring to some linguists and their different definitions of discourse analysis, Prof. Dr. Lakić gave some examples from classroom discourse to the audience some of whom are teachers-to-be.

With students, Prof. Lakić shared the details of language often not recognized by speakers occasionally giving examples from Bosnian language.
