Members of the Linguistics Club within the English Department, together with the Department's Head Dr. Azamat Akbarov, on the 6th of December visited Stari Grad (Old Town) Municipality in Sarajevo
The students were welcomed by Mayor Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Bosnian General Mr. Ismet Hadžić. At the start of the meeting, Mr. Hadžibajrić expressed his great appreciation for the delegation’s decision to visit the Stari Grad Municipality. Mayor gave a short presentation about Old Town, its facts and history, and students had the opportunity to ask questions about Sarajevo's oldest municipality and its diverse history.
This meeting was an excellent opportunity to learn more about Sarajevo. Mayor Hadžibajrić invited students from Burch university to participate in numerous events and projects which will be happening in the future. Through upcoming activities Burch students will be able to get new experience and get to know each other better.
Dr. Akbarov discussed his views on the city’s cultural, sport and educational infrastructure and on finding the best options for youth in order to improve their education. He also talked about a number of projects executed by the Linguistics Club and the English Department of International Burch University.
At the end Dr. Akbarov and the members of the Linguistics Club thanked the Stari Grad Mayor for a warm welcome and expressed a hope of establishing a closer cooperation in foreseeable future. The meeting was concluded with the exchange of gifts.
The guests of the municipality were also offered the Stari Grad Tour, which was followed by the Mayor’s kind invitation to taste famous ćevapi in Željo restaurant.
