On April 3rd, students of English Department led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Azamat Akbarov were invited to visit UNDP and UNESCO office in Sarajevo.
Mr. Yuri Afanasiev, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in BiH, hosted IBU staff on April 3rdand gave a brief introduction of the UNDP role in BiH, explaining that the UNDP is the United Nations’ global development network, standing up for progress, using knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.
During visit Mr. Akbarov proposed a wide spectrum of programs that may include the BiH youth and Mr. Afanasiev expressed his readiness to receive the students’ applications for the vacant positions at UNDP. Both sides agreed to further their bilateral relationship in the field of education, what will create more opportunities for the young intellectuals.
Later on, members of the English Department had an opportunity for the building tour guided by Mr.Želimir Mijić, UN Coordination Officer in BiH.
Finally, students led by professor Akbarov came together with the UNESCO’s Senior Programme Officer in BiH Mr. Siniša Šešum, and discussed possible ways of cooperation. Students felt inspired being hosted in UNESCO and explored the potential of mutual interest in the organization of International FLTAL Conference in 2013.
On behalf of the university, Mr. Akbarov kindly invited Mr. Afanasiev and Mr. Šešum to attend 2nd FLTAL Conference in May 2012.
