On 27th and 28th of March, International Burch University hosted a „Writing Seminar“ with the participation of Ahmet Turan Alkan and Ali Colak, and organized by Department of Oriental Philology and Students Club DESK.
Well known Turkish authors shared their experiences with students within the three sessions, where the first two sessions were lectures of the authors, and the third one had a focus on answering students questions about the writing.
Ahmet Turan Alkan, stressed todays primary need of all young people to be a good readers. In that case, a person who is talented to write, certainly will be able to release that skill, same as lava erupts from the volcane. He also reminded all authors that the greatest art is to write and explain with simplicity.
Ali Colak, explained that students firstly have to choose a genre they are willing to write, and after its done, they need to create a library of masters starting from Montaigne to Cemil Meric, so when close their eyes they will be able to count a whole chain of authors from that genre. Explaned in metaphor, while reading important authors they need to feel envy and start to imitate them, as creating their own name and style goes through a way of accepting objections and critics over time.
