The purpose of this Congress is to contribute to studies and researches conducted on Turkish language, literature, history and culture.
From 17th to 19th of May, International Burch University is a host of international Congress on Turkish Language and Literature (UTEK '13), which is organized by the Department of Oriental Philology of Faculty of Education. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Arslan welcoming all speakers and participants said that it is quite meaningful to organize this congress in Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which still carries the traces of the history of Turkish culture, and is one of the most important bridges between Europe and Asia, contact points of languages, literatures and cultures of the West and the East.
Later on Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Huseyin Padem also addressed the audience, as well as H.E. Ahmet Yildiz, Ambassador of Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prof. Dr. Recep Duymaz, Rector Deputy of Trakya University, Prof. Dr. Bego Omerčević, Dean of Philosophy Faculty of University of Tuzla, Dr- Zulkuf Oruc, TIKA Coordinator in B-H, Hasan Ahmet Gokce from Yagmur Magazine and Prof. Dr. Hayati Develi, General Director of Yunus Emre Cultural Institute.
At the end of the opening ceremony Plaquettes of Appreciation were kindly handed to distinguished guests and speakers. The Congress will be continued with first keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Kerima Filan from Sarajevo University.
351 researches from 14 different countries including Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Macedonia, Slovenia, Albania, Serbia, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Cyprus and Iraq attends UTEK’13 and will present 309 papers.
