It aims to bring together a diverse community of researchers, practitioners and policy makers to present and discuss current issues and challenges, exchange the latest research findings and plan for future implementation on this year theme which is "Energy Issues and Solutions".
From 24-25 May International Burch University is a host of International Symposium on Sustainable Development, ISSD2013. The main topic of the symposium is "Energy Issues and Solutions", which will be analyzed through scientific researches and discussions at the sessions.
General Chairman of the conference, Prof. Dr. Kemo Sokolija, in his introductory speech welcomed all speakers and participants and expressed his hopes that symposium will be productive. Also Prof. Dr. Sokolija mentioned some of the environmental problems in regard of sustainable development. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Padem, Rector of the University, also welcomed the attendees and gave brief information about the University.
Short speeches were also held by Erdal Trhulj, Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry and Mr. Emir Aganović, Assistant General Director of JP Elektroprivreda BiH for Development. At the end of ceremony a Plaquettes of Appreciation were kindly handed to distinguished professors and guests.
The Symposium will be continued with keynote speeches by Prof. Dr. Salih Sadović, University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Satman, Istanbul Technical University, and Prof. Dr. Recayi “Reg” Pecen, North American College in Houston, Texas.
