International Burch University organized 2nd International Symposium of Turkish Language and Literature (UTEK '14) which was opened on 23rd of May at the University premises.
UTEK '14, which brings together a large number of domestic and foreign researchers of Turkish language, started today by addressing of Assist. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cetin, on behalf of the Organizing Committee.
Later, Rector of the International Burch University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Uzunoğlu, addressed the participants and guests, stating that because of its preserved elements of oriental culture, Sarajevo was great place for scientific conference on the topic of Turkish language and literature. Rector Uzunoğlu also said that research and close academic cooperation is highly important, and that this conference is a great opportunity for establishing connections.
Rectors addressing was continued with speeches of Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Bilkan, Rector of Ipek University, Prof. Dr. Kerima Filan, From Faculty of Philosophy of University in Sarajevo and Prof. Dr. Ćazim Hadžimejlić, from Academy of Fine Arts.
The working part of the conference began with introductory speeches by experts in the field of Turkish language – and Hilmi Yavuz and Prof. Dr. Ali Fuat Bilkan from Turkey.
The aim of the conference is to help research activities of the Turkish language, literature and culture, contribute to mutual acquaintance of Balkan societies with Turkish society, and implement activities of establishing better connection of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.
170 participants from 14 countries will attended the conference and during two working days present 145 scientific papers. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit Herzegovina and learn about the tourist offer of our country on third day of the UTEK '14 conference
