Second year student at the Information Technologies Department of International Burch University won first prize and got a job offer.
On the Third Startup Weekend Sarajevo, which was held from 29 to 31 August in Bosmal City Centre in the premises of the HUB 387, Said Sikira, a second year student at the Department of Information Technologies of International Burch University, and his team won first place for creating application " Meet Pro ". This application facilitates arranging business meetings and provides measurable business credibility.
In addition to mentoring of local experts Edin Mehić, Ceco Gaković, Nedim Šabić, Bojana Hadžihalilović, Enis Šahinović and guests Kathleen Fritzsche, who was one of the founders of startup accelerator - Accelerate Stuttgart, and Benjamin Southworth, which comes on behalf of FI-WARE, many young people interested in starting their own businesses had the opportunity to expand their knowledge of startup entrepreneurship, engaged in active work on the businesses, developing prototypes, product design and work with mentors.
Participant provided one minute long presentations explaining their startup ideas, of which the jury chose the best, and the teams continued working on developing them during the weekend.
Said Sikira's idea was "MeetPro" application that allows the easy way of arranging business meetings with people who belong to a specific category, depending on their profiles that are associated with the LinkedIn network. Also, it provides measurable business credibility depending on the number of followers, and depending on the number allows you to create events for a chosen audience in a very simple and effective manner, thus increasing productivity and the need to communicate with people through other channels.
For "MeetPr"o application Sikira and his team won the Avalon BH Enterprise hosting package and the seven-day stay in Silicon Valley in San Francisco at a special training in the Black Box VC.
In addition to the awards won and gained very valuable experience and contacts, Sikira says: "I got few job offers and invitation to participate in various projects in different areas, and I will accept few. I will continue to study at the International Burch University, and I will get as much education as I can in my field, before graduate. This university provides me with everything I need. " Sikira currently works as iOS developer, and Startup Weekend is not the only competition that he won.
Startup Weekend Sarajevo event is aimed for all young people who have an idea about starting their own business or want to be part of a team to acquire new knowledge and skills in three categories: developers, designers and non-technical.
Third Startup Weekend was held under the patronage of all the major companies in the IT industry, and attracted a large number of young people who tryed to give their best to develop their startup, and the judges decided which one has the highest chance of success and profit.
