Professor Jenny Moon from the Bournemouth University was invited by the Faculty of Education in cooperation with The Association for Applied Linguistics in BiH, to held lectures about the process of human learning and critical thinking for students of all study cycles at International Burch University, and other interested parties. The seminars were held on 12th of December in the Motif room of the university campus.
Morning session on the topic „How and what you Learn Depends of Developing Quality of your Thinking“ brought exercise on progression in the sophistication of thinking, which was based on the work of Baxter Magolda, who studies development of the understanding of the nature of knowledge. Yet the exercise was broadened with new stages and different terms, instead of Independent and Contextual Knowing, professor Moon used the term More Sophisticated Knowing.
Exercise on least sophisticated stage (absolute knowing), mid stage (transitional knowing) and more sophisticated knowing offered students a new insight into the exploration of human learning.
Afternoon session will offer elaboration of the topic „Critical Thinking and Epistemological Development: Important Ideas in Supporting the Learning of Students“.
