On 11th of November, first year students of English Language and Literature Department organized a trip to Mostar with their advisor, Mr.Harun BAŞTUĞ.
On the way there, they had one coffee break in Konjic, where they had a chance enjoy the morning and visit Old Stone Bridge. As the drive continued, the atmosphere in the bus was getting even better than at the very beginning.
Two hours later, they arrived in Blagaj, which is situated at the spring of the Buna river. Blagaj is most famous for the tekke (tekija or Dervish monastery), which is historical and natural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Students had a lunch in a restaurant next to Buna and enjoyed the wonderful sunny day and a lovely Herzegovinian nature.
At 3 pm they drove off to the final destination – Mostar. It was the first time being there for some of them, so they were even more excited. As they said, they were amazed by the architecture, food, and hospitality. The Old Bridge, which was built in the 16th century by Ottomans was the most breathtaking and which took everyone’s attention. They discussed the history of it, and even got some new information from the locals. At the end of the day, students had a chance to enjoy the sunset with the cup of traditional Bosnian coffee.
The trip was educational, because students were able to see the beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, learn about its history, culture and tradition. They plan to organize such excursions in the future as well.
