On Monday, 13th April 2015, guest lecturer Tijana Tufek-Memišević held a workshop about “Spatial barriers for people with disabilities in BiH” with third year students of Architecture Department.
The workshop aims to raise awareness about the issues and obstacles that people with various movement restrictions in BiH face in everyday life. As a part of workshop Tijana Tufek-Memišević presented results of past experiences and architecture students’ workshop organized in collaboration with the University Clinical Center of Sarajevo and the Association of Paraplegics and people suffering from Poliomyelitis of Canton Sarajevo. Together with the workshop conclusions the results that comprise universal design were presented during the lecture. This issue has been addressed in a theoretical, practical and creative way producing a promising solution.
Experience that students have gained during the Workshop will help them in understanding this very present issue. The workshop was concluded with the constructive discussion emphasizing that specific spatial demands for people with disabilities should be a part of every architectural project.
