BURCH University, in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America and Foundation „Source of Hope,“ on 9, April organized the fifth fair of scientific projects for high school students from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina under the name „Bosnian Science Olypiad 2016.“
Bosnian Science Olympiad is a platform through which high school students can present their projects and, dependant on their ranking, earn a scholarship to continue their education at BURCH University. This project is also an opportunity for young people to gain new competancies and develop theri ideas.
Prof. Dr. Amina Kozarić, the representative of the organizational committee of the Olympiad, opened the manifastation and said she was satisfied with the organization of such an important scientific project for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Besides Amina, the cultural atashe of the US embassy Nicholar Geisinger, the director of Foundation „Source of Hope“ Harun Tursanović, Microsoft representative Admir Tuzović, mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža Prof. Dr. Senaid Memić and the rector of BURCH University Prof. Dr. Teoman Duman addressed the audience.
„The aim of this project isn't just developing the conscious of the participants for science and scientific work, but also to give an opportunity to high school students to meet their peers from all across Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said the cultural atashe of the US embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina Nicholas Geisinger and added that this project is financed from the Fond for International Cooperation, thanking which over 15.000 participants from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina and in that way send a message of peace, tolerance and co-existence.
The mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža Prof. Dr. Senaid Memić said that the municipality supports this project because of its significance to the municipality and the country as a whole.
The director of Foundation „Source of Hope“ Harun Tursanović expressed his satisfaction at the project and states how the founcation aims to create a better educational system and support young people in their life endeavors.
Both the rector of BURCH University Prof. Dr. Teoman Duman and Microsoft Admir Tuzović both congratuled participants and expressed their support for them.
„Big thank you to all partners which recognized the quality of this project but also the biggest thank you to all participants of the Olympiad, to whom we wish the best of luck at the competition and in their future education and development in which BURCH University will be a big support,“ said Duman.
The Top 100 projects or 25 projects per category were presented at the Olympiad.
Besides financial rewards for participants and their mentors, participants also won the following rewards: a full scholarship of 21.000KM for first place, a 75% scholarship of 17.750KM for second place and a 50% scholarship of 10.500KM for third place.
