BURCH StartUp kicked off it’s 3rd annual StartUp competition yesterday in the basement auditorium. “BURCH StartUp” is organized by the group of students in coordination with BURCH Business Club (BBC). It is financed by domestic companies and entrepreneurs that recognized the importance of organizing such an event in today's environment.
The main goal is to motivate students to develop themselves in the field of entrepreneurship. By using customer discovery tools to experiment, students will collect data, feedback, and social media metrics to validate their ideas, moving forward to the business planning process.
“BURCH StartUp” is made up of five training modules and a pitch or presentation competition. Through the modules you will have opportunity to meet successful domestic entrepreneurs, hear inspiring and motivating business stories and gain knowledge and skills related to the preparation of business plan, gain confidence to present your business model before a panel of distinguished judges.
The kickoff event speakers included, the Rector of International BURCH University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Teoman Duman, who spoke about the importance of changing mindsets toward the different option for employement in today's fast changing corporate environment. He address an important area that all companies are in search of today, innovation and connected our creative student projects as an answer to this need of enterprises today. Dr. Teoman conluded his remarks by thanking lead sponsor Ećo Company, and all our other sponsors.
Malcolm Duerod, Senior Teaching Assistant in the faculty of economics, gave a short explaination of how the BURCH StartUp Competition fits into the greater university entrepreneurial program initiative, including workshops, speakers, internship and career opportunities, and student incubator.
