International BURCH University and the Association Green Council in cooperation have organized this initial conference. The project is generously supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the 11th of February, 2016 a conference on the topic of Energy Efficiency in Buildings - Basis for Achieving Sustainable Socio- Economic Growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been organized in the premises of BURCH University. The conference aims to stress out the importance of the existing researches on potential of local, natural insulating materials to all participants in the energy efficiency and climate change sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to inform them how to recognize and implement these products in the on-going reconstruction projects and new construction.
The conference was attended by distinguished guests and international as well as local state and private institutions. The opening ceremony started with the Rector of BURCH University Prof. Dr. Teoman Duman who expressed gratitude and privilege to host such an event. After which the public were addressed by H.E. Vibeke Liloe, Norwegian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Claire Bodonyi, Ambassador, French Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Thomas D. Rojas, Economic Department Director USAID/BiH, Vesna Želježnjak, Mayor, City of Koprivnica, Croatia and Assist.Prof.Dr. Dina Šamić (BURCH/Green Council) as Project Coordinator.
During the project preparation phase Green Council team was discussing this extremely important topic with the main stakeholders from EE and construction sector, as well as with the representatives of government, civil society sector, trade chambers, and donors.
This Conference is an important and meaningful event, bringing together all active participants in energy efficiency sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina and contributing to a better understanding of the local potential that we posses, as well as the global responsibility we all share.
