The Sarajevo Football Club presented a project for building a Sarajevo Arena a month ago at the Sarajevo Business Forum where the Burgundy club would play its games after leaving the stadium "Asim Ferhatović Hase".
Three young, ambitious and successful students at the Department of Architecture at the International Burch University, Selma Ibrahimović, Azaudin Saračević and Mirsad Mašović took up the challenge.
"After my colleagues and I were selected to make the design concept for the stadium of the Football Club Sarajevo, a meeting was held and as a team we decided to do something that was not seen before. The idea for the stadium concept came from a story and a picture of the ship", says Saračević, and explains why the ship inspired them.
"The Burgundy ship sailed in 1946 and finally it was time to lower its anchor and have a home on whose deck the songs of faithful fans would be heard. Through design we were led by the image of the ship and for that reason the part where the hotel and the shopping center is located looks like a bow on the boat, and the part where the football field is at looks like the central part of the boat, "adds Saračević.
The modern stadium would have 14,610 seats and would fulfill all the conditions of UEFA and FIFA, and it would fall into the fourth category.
On behalf of the Football Club Sarajevo, Director Sabrina Buljubašić handed an appreciation letter to our students.
The Educational Program of the Department of Architecture aims to create generations of architects who are competitive on the local and international market, and independently good and strong in making design decisions. The positive reactions of the public and the clients on the stadium project whose design was designed by our students is an indicator that the Department of Architecture program at the International Burch University fulfills its mission.
