Today, May 19, 2017, the second two-day Annual Conference of the Western Balkans Migration Network on the topic „Migration in the Western Balkans: What do we know?“ was opened at International Burch University.
The conference brought together Western Balkans scholars and policy makers, in order to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and a discussion of migration. It hopes to challenge existing models and discourses of migration, to address current policy challenges, and to offer solutions for more humane treatment of migrants and better utilization of human mobility.
Prof. Dr. Russel King of the University of Sussex in Brighton, England was the keynote speaker of the conference and spoke on the topic: „Return migration and development: theoretical perspectives and insights from the Albanian experience“.
Twelve panels are scheduled to be held, with three to four panelists in each session and dozens of audience members.
International Burch University is proud to have hosted dozens of esteemed professors and scholars from the region and further abroad and to had the opportunity to contribute in fulfilling the mission of the Western Balkans Migration Network progress and development.
