"I must say that this country needs young people who do not lose hope and do not leave this country", said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adisa Arapović-Omerbegović in her address to students.
Today, at the International Burch University in Sarajevo, a formal welcome was held for new Burch University students, which officially started the new 2017/2018 academic year.
The event began at 11:00 am with the intonation of the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the introductory speech of the Rector of the International Burch University, Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović, the motivational speech of the Dean Adisa Arapović-Omerbegović, and presentation of our most successful students and KK BURCH players.
Prof. Dr. Damir Marjanović, Rector of Burch University, welcomed students on behalf of the Burch professor team, stressing that they came to the best private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the best students, many of whom earned Fulbright, were educated. The Rector on this occasion did not forget the mention Burch publications in prestigious scientific magazines and the best university basketball team, but Marjanović touched upon one of the most important rules of Burch that reads: "You will not pass unless you learn!".
"I spent my years studying outside B&H because I could not find quality education in my country at the time. Today I am in a place where I can proudly say that I am a member of the best university team in B&H that educates young people. I'm sure that you, young people, will make this country better and more beautiful tomorrow. That is why I must say that this country needs young people who do not lose hope and do not leave this country", said Adisa Arapović-Omerbegović, Vice-rector for education and students’ affairs, in her address to students.
Students were able to hear the experiences of older colleagues who are students at the second and third year of studies, among whom was Tarik Bučan, a student from IT. Tarik told his new colleagues that he had learned much at the university he attended mostly from his older colleagues, but he did not pay attention until he talked with them and got guidelines in only two words, learn and be wise.
At the end of the event, the students were sent to their faculties where they were greeted by the Department's mentors and informed about the courses process, as well as students’ rights and obligations.
