On January 11, 2018, the Department of English Language and Literature celebrated the end of another successful and eventful semester in the academic year 2017/18. Celebrating the end of Harry Potter weeks, and announcing the House Cup winner made it even more special and interesting to the students in this Department.
The program called “A Magic Hour” began with a motivational and congratulatory speech by our Head of the Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Amna Bardarević-Čeljo. The professor thanked all the students for an amazing semester and their hard work. She also wished them the best of luck in their final exams and emphasized the importance of good results and education in today’s society. The speech was followed by poetry readings, freshmen and senior students’ speeches, and a song performance by our creative students.
The Hufflepuff house proved to be the best house, winning and taking the prize of the Harry Potter weeks. Led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Murat Oner and a perfect Amila Dautbašić, Hufflepuff is a house characterized by kindness and loyalty, and their winning speech will leave a long-lasting impression with a strong message that fair play and cordiality almost always pay off. After the event, food and refreshments prepared by the students and department staff were served. The feeling of positivity was still inescapable, and our end of the year proved to be more joyful than ever.
