Two staff members from the International BURCH University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Sayed and Senior Teaching Assistant Emina Arapčić, participated in an Erasmus + project/teaching mobility at Danube University Krems, Faculty of Education, Arts and Architecture / Department for Building and Environment in Krems, Austria.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Sayed held lectures on the Course “Energy Innovation – Engineering and Management” in the module “Building Physics”, Master level, covering a wide variety of topics such as Introduction to Building Physics, Performance matrix arrays, Steady Heat Conduction, Dew Point, Practical part with explanations and solved examples.
Senior Teaching Assistant Emina Arapčić held lectures on the topic -Urban development in conflict – Sarajevo’s Olympic legacy, explaining Sarajevo and it's urban architecture as a model study case which is valid also for other towns in Europe - as part of the Study Programme “Revitalization and Refurbishment” in the module “Urban design and planning”, Master level.
During their stay BURCH staff enjoyed the hospitality of their host University, the historical sight-seeing tour in Krems-Stein, the individual study time at the premises of University library, and the additional lectures, they joined, on the Danube University, - Case Studies Presentations of BInUCom (Building Inclusive Urban Communities) and SES (Social Inclusion and Energy Management for Informal Urban Settlements) Project and Networking with Erasmus+ Project Partners from India and Ethiopia; Lightweight Membrane Structures (M.Eng.) Programme – Topic: Engineering / Detail / Dimensioning.
At the end of this visit all agreed to continue the cooperation with International Burch University. They have already invited our teaching staff again to another program, due to the good experience they had, and due to their believing that IBU staff can offer knowledge to their students in Austria. The quality of their lectures, as well as their lecturing methodology, was recognized by the Dean Prof.sc.techn.Dipl.Arch. ETH Christian Hanus and by the Professors Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Sonnleithner, MSc and Mag. Susanne Prix, MSc., by a special letter of thanks.
