Fifth International Student Symposium held at International Burch University – „Only knowledge and education can keep young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ The fifth International Student Symposium held at International Burch University in Sarajevo today was a right place to obtain valuable advice as well as an affirmation that young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina represent a potential that should be directed and educated in the right way.
The event organized by the Faculty of Education and Humanities of International Burch University in partnership with the British Council and Student Parliament of the International Burch University summoned some prominent names from the field of humanities, social and natural sciences, such as Prof Dr. Maria Fernandez Raga and Prof Dr. Jose Antonia Resines Gordaliza, who held a seminar on the web-based learning environment.
The speakers and panelists attracted a lot of attention from the participants and gave useful advice and suggestions on how to develop their potential in researching multidisciplinary topics and developing the field of humanities.
The Faculty of Education and Humanities of Burch University has already organized four symposiums and this fifth one is yet another success in their multidisciplinary and scientifically integrative work.
Prof Dr. Damir Marjanović, the Rector of the university, said: „We, at Burch University, strive to be different; we want this university to be designed for our students, not professors. That is why I am very thankful to our Student Parliament, British Council and all of our students and professors attending the ceremony. Today, you decide to become new scientists, new leaders and prominent citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who will make it a better country“.
Prof Dr. Senad Bećirović, the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities said: “As I look at the audience this morning, I can’t help but feel a surge of hope and pride to see so many young and inspiring researchers and future academicians in our midst. I feel hope seeing the students from all across Bosnia and Herzegovina who have assembled here to present their work, make new friends, and once again challenge themselves on the road to professional and personal fulfillment“.
Samir Avdibegović, the representative of the British Council emphasized: “I would like to express my gratitude to International Burch University for the close cooperation that we have and I am sure that such an event will further strengthen our relations. I must emphasize that we are planning to maintain strong partnership and friendship with International Burch University“.
The whole-day Symposium program included two paper and poster sessions, where the participants from different fields had the opportunity to present their papers and posters in front of the audience and answer some relevant questions. The closing ceremony was marked by a great performance of the play ‘Among Friends and Clutter’ by Lindsay Price staged by Helen O’Grady academy in Sarajevo under the mentorship of Ms. Arma Tanović and it was fulfilled by the certificate awarding ceremony. All the visitors expressed their satisfaction with the overall organization of the event.
