The Department of English Language and Literature invites all third and fourth-year high school students to participate in the Let’s Enjoy English 2018 competition! Let’s Enjoy English consists of three categories this year:
The General Knowledge Quiz, which will test your knowledge of English grammar, literature, and pop culture,
The Spelling Bee Contest, where you are required to show off your English spelling skills, and
The 300-Word Story Writing Contest, for those who love writing. You are required to write a 300-word long piece of fiction in English. The theme of the contest this year is “One language – many minds”. The stories must be original, not previously published, and they must contain exactly 300 words, excluding the title. You must submit your stories until March 10, 2018. The finalists will be announced on March 12, 2018. The finalists will be invited to present their stories in five-minute sessions in front of the jury.
You can join the General Knowledge Quiz in pairs of two students, while the Spelling Bee Contest and the 300-Word Story Writing Contest are meant for individual contestants.
Hurry up because registrations will be closed on March 10, 2018.
To take a break from the competition, you will be able to attend the premier of the play “Twelve Angry People”, performed by the English Department Drama Club. In this adaptation of Reginald Rose’s drama "Twelve Angry Men", featuring students from International Burch University as well as several students from International High School, you will follow a jury as they make a life or death decision in a murder trial. The play is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
Make sure to free up your schedule on March 14, 2018 between 9:00 and 16:00, and Let’s Enjoy English together!
