Within the Erasmus + mobility program, International Burch University hosted representatives from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in Poland.
Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations Professor Andrzej Trochimczuk and Professor Elzbieta Wojaczynska had a three-day visit to IBU during which they had a meeting with acting Rector of IBU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mersid Poturak, Vice-Rector for Development and Planning, Assist. The second day was marked by a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jasna Hivziefendic and the Heads of Departments where attendees discussed and compared the similar principle of operation and functionality of the two higher education institutions. Since this is a visit of experts in the field of chemistry and biology, the guests paid special attention to the department of genetics and bioengineering, wanting to learn more about the curriculum, the subjects being covered in theory as well as in practice.
As a representative of one of the largest universities in Poland, with more than 25,000 students and a long tradition, professor Trochimczuk made a comparison of the work of Wroclaw University and IBU during the meeting, saying: "Since this is a very young institution, I am impressed with your work and achievements so far. I am pleased to see young, successful people who have great ideas, work on big projects. I am happy to see a great ambition and desire to move forward in the eyes of all present colleagues. The IBU team has great energy and a positive attitude towards work and business, I have felt euphoria and noticed great interpersonal communication and collegial relationships at your workplace.''
On the third day of their stay, the guests, through an organized tour of the campus, were given a thorough insight into all the facilities and abundant resources available at IBU. The work of IBU companies at the premises of the Burch Start Up Incubator has left a visible trace of enthusiasm on the face of Prof. Andrzej who said: '' Being the first entrepreneurial university to give young people the motivation to work, space for advancement and the path to quick employment is an incredible asset to your institution. Be the reason why young people need to stay in this beautiful country.''
The Wroclaw University of Science and Technology is our long-standing partner within the Erasmus + program, with which we have been building successful cooperation since 2015. When asked how to improve the already existing relationship and what are the next steps Prof. Trochimczuk stated: '' The main reason for our visit to IBU is precisely the continuation of cooperation. Visiting your university has expanded our perspectives and we have seen a lot of space for new projects, scientific research, implementation of new ideas, especially in the field of genetics. With modernly equipped labs and world-class content, I think we can achieve a lot together. ''
In the end, Prof. Trochimczuk spoke about the importance of Marketing and PR Office, emphasizing that promotion is very important and that it is a key driver in connecting IBU with other international educational institutions, and that IBU can thus be an excellent representative of the cultural and educational aspect of our country.
The three-day visit ended with taking photos, an exchange of gifts and an invitation of staff from the academy and administration to attend International Staff Week, which will be held at the Wroclaw University, Poland as part of the Erasmus + program, with the beginning of the new 2019/2020 academic year.
