Research for project „Jerusalem and Sarajevo“ started at IBU

The Israeli office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and NGO Israel-Palestine Creative Regional Initiatives (IPCRI), which is working on a research project “Jerusalem and Sarajevo - Conflict-Affected Cities,” visited IBU where they have started with the research for the project. The occasion was to meet and get acquainted with the professors from the Department of Architecture, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emina Zejnilović and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erna Husukić, and their interest in their research so far.

A group of researchers, consisting of urban planners, architects, political scientists, sociologists, and practitioners, attended a lecture given by the professors entitled Metamorphosis of Sarajevo: On Culture, Conflict, and Architecture. The aim of the lecture was to present the historical development of Sarajevo, the impact of the conflict on the city and to learn about the greatest challenges facing the architecture of post-war Sarajevo.

The lecture was also attended by Assist. Prof. Dr. Adis Maksić from the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, who gave an insight into the political aspects of the conflict as well as the political organization of B&H, the challenges and obstacles facing post-war society in B&H. After the lecture, our professors and guests started an interesting discussion through which they presented everything they know about the reconstruction of the two cities, and thus the experts working on the project received the necessary information to get started.
