UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Steliana Nadera and her team visited International Burch University to enhance collaboration on the Student Pavilion project.
After the successful Summer School “Student Pavilion - Knowledge Laboratory 2019” organized by the Green Council Association, which involved around 60 regional students of architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, IT, natural sciences, forestry, agriculture, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sanela Klarić hosted a new UNDP representative, Steliana Nadera, to present the progress of the project.
After prof. Klarić presented activities done on the project so far, she also presented everything that IBU, as an entrepreneurial university, is doing to help start-ups and young people's ideas. Innovation and entrepreneurship as a basis for education and the integration of these features into the project itself proved particularly interesting to UNDP representatives since a new department for innovation was also opened at UNDP.
After an organized tour through the student pavilion, prof. Klarić provided guests with more information on low-energy and self-sustaining construction. Assist. Prof. Dr. Dejan Jokić from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Burch University and Almin Hasandić IBU alumnus and founder of bSmart explained the importance of the project in terms of electrical engineering and smart home systems. The uniqueness of the project and the fact that it is the only one of its kind in the region makes it extremely important for students of architecture, construction, and electrical engineering in BiH and beyond.
The tour was followed by Prof. Klarić's presentation of further plans for the project as well. Resident Representative Steliana Nadera congratulated on the success so far, expressed her wish for continuation and improvement of cooperation between UNDP and IBU on this and future projects, and arranged meetings so they can follow the development and improvement of the Student Pavilion project.
