The program started on 16 July with the opening ceremony enriched by a welcoming speech by the dean of the Faculty of Education and Humanities, Assoc. Prof. Senad Bećirović, and a short presentation of the week-long program, which included 18 hours of teaching addressing diverse topics in the field of English language teaching and teaching methodology. The program was attended by 14 teaching and administrative staff from the University of León, who were fully engaged and gladly participated in all in-class activities. The guests had the opportunity to learn some new tips for improving their vocabulary as well as reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, to develop their conferencing techniques and learn how to ask and answer questions, lead discussions and make effective oral explanations. The participants were also acquainted with the ways to build a better rapport with their students and the main methods used for dealing with unacceptable behavior in the classroom. They expressed deep satisfaction with the program, saying that the classes were excellent and ‘exceeded their expectations’. In their testimonials, one of the participants stated that ‘the paper is too small to talk about all the good moments and experiences during these five days of the program. International Burch University is a great institution and Sarajevo is a magical city’, while the other one said that ‘it has been a pleasure to know International Burch University and meet the teachers who have plenty of energy and transmit their enthusiasm into their classes.’
The program ended with the closing certificate award ceremony, which was held on Friday, 20 July, and marked the end of a very fruitful week. In his speech at the ceremony Assoc. Prof. Senad Bećirović thanked the guests for their participation in the program and expressed his hope for continued future collaboration between the two institutions. The representative of the University of León showed his gratitude to the Faculty and the professors for organizing such a useful program and expressed his wish that similar future programs be held again. The ceremony ended with a pleasant informal gathering, which provided the staff of both institutions the chance to get to know each other better and exchange their experiences.
All activities within this organized project were funded by the ERASMUS + Mobility Project between Burch and Leon Universities.
