Former BiH Army Commander Azem Dervisevic Delivered a Lecture to IBU Students

Mr. Dervisevic opened his lecture with an inspiring story about his life as well as the path he made towards achieving his goals, which made him one of the most influential people in BiH. Mr. Dervisevic emphasized four areas on how to reach a more secure and prosperous BiH. The first step to take is to learn from the past. The second step is to learn from the experiences of BiH citizens living abroad. He continued with the goal of global connectivity and influence in BiH, and concluded by emphasizing the importance of self-respect and belief in one’s own capacities.

We can observe Bosnia and Herzegovina from several points of view. We can view it as a country with two Entities and District, and a country with two governments at the entity level. But BiH is also a sovereign country with its own currency. Both terms cannot be ignored. But what people are neglecting is the ability of BiH to develop in an economic and every other direction. “Only the determined ones succeed in BiH! Be the best at what you do, and you will succeed, ” said Dervisevic.

The goal is to change and improve the situation as an individual and then as a society. Individuals and organizations can only positively influence society through strong unity with people who have the same goal.

Most of our society consists of observers; those who do not benefit or do any harm to the country. An increasing number of people are passive, which needs to be changed at the institutional level but also to help those who want to work for society.
