Opening ceremony of the PDeS conference at the IBU

The opening ceremony for the 17th International Conference on Programmable Devices and Embedded Systems, which will be held at International Burch University from June 17th to June 19th, took place today.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Mersid Poturak, Rector of International Burch University, welcomed everyone to the conference. Following the rectors' remarks, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Kevrić, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Natural and Medical Sciences at International Burch University, discussed the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and its relationship to the conference.

The Czech Embassy in Sarajevo has been a strong supporter of this conference from the start, and Mrs. Sona Ubović, Deputy Head of Mission, also spoke at the conference's opening.

Last but not least among the introductory speakers was conference organizer Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dejan Jokić, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at IBU and an IEEE BiH member. Professor Jokić discussed the conference's social activities and other details.

Following the opening remarks, the conference continued with four keynote speakers:
IHP's Vladica Sark presented Wireless Radio-Frequency Based Indoor Localization, Zdenek Slanina from VSB – Technical University Ostrava presented Comprehensive study of parking houses for smart cities, IHP's Nebojša Maletić discussed Millimeter-Wave Wireless Communications, and Antonio Gordillo-Guerrero presented Spin-glass simulations using FPGAs.

This conference is an international forum devoted to presenting the most recent research findings and experiences in the design and application of programmable devices and systems, as well as debating the current state and future prospects of this particular branch of applied electronics.
