Tunnelling Festival Awards deadline extended by four weeks

World class tunnelling projects and innovators in the underground sector now have four more weeks to put together their award-winning entries for this year’s Tunnelling Festival Awards.

Following calls from the industry for more time to complete the entry process, the deadline has now been extended to 13 August.

“There are 14 enterable categories spanning industry initiatives, projects, innovation and people that have been created to allow the tunnelling sector to celebrate its achievements on both completed projects, as well as those still underway and the teams who are key to their successful delivery,” said NCE editor Claire Smith. “The last 16 months have been challenging for the whole of the construction industry but the tunnelling sector has really done itself proud in getting back to work safely despite the challenges of the pandemic and getting projects back on track – the awards aims to celebrate the spirit that drove that success.”

Judges lined up to review the entries include HS2 lead engineer Colin Rawlings, United Utilities principal geotechnical engineer Pam Rigby and Transport for London major projects directorate Andy Swift. Click here to see the full line up of judges for the awards.

The results of the initial phase of judging will be revealed with publication of the shortlist in mid-September and the winners will be revealed at a gala award ceremony on 8 December at the Leonardo Royal London Tower Bridge, which will follow on from a full day conference focusing on future trends, best practice and case studies.
