Everything about this year’s Tokyo Olympics is unprecedented—including a newly announced opportunity for basketball fans to watch the games from the comforts of NBA legend Scottie Pippen’s longtime Chicago home. The two-time Olympic gold medalist partnered up with Airbnb to offer fans three one-night stays at his colossal Highland Park home. The 10,000-square-foot pad features a number of high-end amenities, including a movie theater, a wine cellar, and a custom indoor basketball court that includes a graphic of Pippen’s Chicago Bulls jersey imprinted onto the floor.
Guests will get the chance to utilize the basketball court, as well as the movie theater, and can even relax by the pool, where an outdoor TV ensures that they won’t miss a moment of the Olympic games. In fact, the timing of the stays—on August 2, August 4, and August 6— coincide with the basketball competitions, including the gold and silver medal games. Those who are interested in sports history can also watch archival footage of Pippen and the 1992 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball team’s win in Barcelona.Discover AD PRO
“Being able to represent the United States as an Olympian twice was an incredible honor as an athlete,” said Pippen (he also played in the games in 1996). “Playing alongside the best of the best with Team USA will always be a career highlight for me, and I’m excited to host basketball fans at my home to witness the next generation of athletes performing at the top of their sport.“ Fans who snap up the opportunity can bring up to three friends, and will ultimately pay just $92 a night—a nod to the year Pippen and his teammates brought home the gold. Fans can request one of the three exclusive dates starting July 22 at 1 p.m. EST at airbnb.com/scottiepippen.
The one drawback to the whole deal is that Pippen won’t be at the house during the time of the stays, though he will virtually greet his guests upon their arrival.
