International Burch University (IBU) is proud to reaffirm its commitment to gender equality, human rights, and the creation of safe academic environments by actively participating in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. As a long-standing member of the UNIGEM (University and Gender Mainstreaming) network, IBU is aligned with more than twenty partner universities across the region in advancing institutional policies that prevent violence, empower students and staff, and strengthen mechanisms of protection.
This year’s campaign, carried out under the joint leadership of the TPO Foundation and the UNIGEM network, emphasises the message “Ne šuti, ne prihvataj i ne opravdavaj nasilje – PROGLEDAJ!”, calling on academic communities to recognise, address, and challenge all forms of violence, discrimination, and harmful social norms. The official campaign poster, featuring partner universities including IBU, highlights a unified regional response to gender-based violence and underscores the responsibility of higher education institutions to act as catalysts for societal change.
As part of this initiative, the network will host a series of educational, research-oriented, and public engagement activities. Among these is the online promotion of Judith Butler’s book Ko se boji roda?, featuring respected speakers from Belgrade, Tuzla, and Split. Such events aim to foster critical dialogue on gender, identity, and the societal structures that shape power relations.
By taking part in the campaign, IBU continues to strengthen its institutional framework for gender mainstreaming, ensuring that its policies, curricula, and campus culture uphold equality, dignity, and non-violence. The University remains committed to supporting its students and staff through continuous awareness-raising, capacity building, and the promotion of a safe and inclusive academic environment.
IBU is honoured to stand alongside its UNIGEM partners in this regional movement and will continue contributing to initiatives that build informed, resilient, and responsible communities.
