Book Promotion Held at IBU as Part of the “16 Days of Activism” Campaign and the UNIGEM Network

On Tuesday, 02.12.2025, International Burch University (IBU) hosted a promotion of the Bosnian edition of Judith Butler’s “Who Is Afraid of Gender?” as part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign and the activities of the UNIGEM (Universities and Gender Mainstreaming) network.

The event featured presentations by Dr. Dženana Telalagić and Assist. Prof. Dr. Adem Olovčić, who introduced the audience to Butler’s critical examination of gender, power, and contemporary social anxieties. The promotors emphasized the importance of countering misinformation and strengthening academic dialogue on gender equality, especially in a time of rising anti-gender movements globally.

Students and staff of IBU, together with high-school seniors from Sarajevo secondary schools, actively participated in the discussion, contributing questions and reflections that enriched the event. Their presence highlighted the significance of engaging younger generations in conversations on human rights, feminism, and social justice.

The promotion reaffirmed IBU’s dedication, within the UNIGEM network and the 16 Days of Activism campaign, to building campuses and communities that are safe, informed, and committed to gender equality.
