SARAJEVO — There is a distinct, electric energy that defines a graduation ceremony at International Burch University. It is the precise moment when years of rigorous academic grit fuse with the raw anticipation of the future. Last night, Hotel Hills was transformed into the epicentre of that energy, hosting a breathtaking commencement ceremony that was as much a celebration of individual triumph as it was a showcase of our university's growing global prestige.
Set against the backdrop of Sarajevo—a city defined by cross-cultural brilliance—the evening beautifully illustrated why IBU remains a powerhouse for entrepreneurial leadership and international collaboration in the region.
A Convergence of Global Diplomacy
The true weight of our institution can always be measured by the community we build. Last night, the auditorium felt less like a traditional lecture hall and more like a high-level diplomatic summit. The presence of top-tier educational architects and international ambassadors underscored the global currency of an IBU degree.
We were deeply privileged to welcome an esteemed roster of Key Distinguished Guests:
Mr Timothy Donald Fisher, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stirling Education;
Mr Mehmet Kolukisa, Director of Richmond Park Education;
Professor Enes Hasic, Director of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina;
His Excellency Mr Anas Abdulrahman O. Al Wasedy, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bosnia and Herzegovina;
Representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Their attendance sent an unmistakable signal to the global stage: the minds being shaped within our halls are recognised by the international community as the leaders of tomorrow.
A Blueprint for the Future: Wisdom from the Podium
The evening’s addresses bypassed standard platitudes, offering instead a masterclass in leadership, character, and navigation for a rapidly changing world.
Taking the podium, Mr Timothy Donald Fisher, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stirling Education, delivered an inspiring charge that struck at the very core of modern success.
"Graduation is more than receiving a degree. It reflects your hard work, determination, and resilience," Mr Fisher noted, looking out at the sea of caps. "As you begin the next chapter of your journey, remember that success is not measured only by professional achievements. It is also defined by your integrity, your willingness to learn, and the positive impact you have on others."
In a poignant moment that resonated deeply with the crowd, he added: "Be ambitious, but remain humble. Be confident, but never stop learning. Above all, lead with purpose and kindness."
The emotional anchor of the ceremony came from our Rector, Prof. Dr. Mersid Poturak, who pulled back the curtain on the profound, transformative journey our students have undergone since first stepping onto campus.
"Take a moment to remember your first day at International Burch University," the Rector urged. "Everything was new: the campus, classrooms, professors, classmates, subjects, assignments, and exams. What may have seemed unfamiliar and challenging at the beginning gradually became part of your daily life. Through those experiences, you learned, adapted, and matured."
The Rector pointed proudly to the holistic, real-world ecosystem we have built at IBU—from Erasmus+ exchanges and intensive industry internships to student-led startup clubs—before issuing a final, powerful mandate:
"Whatever path you choose—whether as engineers, economists, entrepreneurs, diplomats, educators, artists, or researchers—use both your mind and your heart in the decisions you make. Most importantly, remember that you will always be part of the International Burch University family."
The Defining Moment: 356 Futures Begin
The absolute climax of the evening arrived as 356 extraordinary students from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Education and Humanities were called forward to receive their degrees. Watching this incredible cohort cross the stage, it was abundantly clear that these are not just graduates; they are the future architects, innovators, and thinkers who will shape our world.
As the traditional turning of the tassels concluded and a cloud of 356 mortarboards filled the air, the room erupted into a symphony of cheers, flashes, and emotional embraces between families, peers, and mentors.
The Class of 2026 steps out into a fast-moving world, but they do so backed by a world-class education and a lifelong global network. International Burch University stands immensely proud of its newest alumni. Your journey has only just begun, and our doors will always be open to you.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
