Sarajevo, June 18, 2025 – Students of the Digital Communications and Public Relations (DCPR) at the International Burch University, joined the study visit organised by professors Asim Šahinpašić and Irma Bečar, to see the newsrooms of the renowned media outlets in Sarajevo: Bloomberg Adria, Euronews, Newsmax Balkans and Arena Sport BH, where editors and journalists introduced them to the news platforms and shared insights on the challenges and responsibilities of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
Bloomberg Adria’s Editor in Chief for Bosnia and Herzegovina Rijad Durkić encouraged students to invest in their media knowledge and business journalism skills to build a distinctive voice through continuous practice: “In a time when generative AI can produce thousands of texts daily, original authorship has never been more important.”
Students received valuable information about practical journalistic work and learn about business journalism in multiplatform digital environment. They attend the filming of the Zoom In show, followed by a conversation with the Bloomberg Adria’s show’s producer and presenter Tamara Trgovčević who talked about her journalistic career beginnings, on-camera challenges, and the importance of each step in the media production process. A particularly inspiring moment was the talk with Bloomberg Adria’s journalist Nejra Džaferagić, who openly shared her journey from student life to covering serious business topics and what newsroom life is really like when stories are written with intent.
“It was incredibly inspiring to see how news are produced in real time, and how much precision, speed, and teamwork are essential in the daily work of such a major media outlet,” said DCPR student Dania Ćesko. Students added that this experience reinforced the importance of practical learning and how valuable field visits like this are for truly understanding the journalistic profession
This field visit is yet another example of how International Burch University helps students to connects media theory with journalistic practice, preparing future professionals for real-world challenges in digital communication
