The promotion of the book Science and Technology Are Changing the World, published by the Bosniak Institute – Adil Zulfikarpasic Foundation, brought together distinguished members of the academic and professional community to engage in a strategic dialogue on the transformative role of contemporary science and technology in society.
Edited by Academician Prof. Dr Mirsada Hukic, Prof. Dr Almir Karabegovic, and Software Engineer Enes Hukic, the book provides a comprehensive and conceptually integrated overview of key scientific and technological developments shaping the modern world. Its thematic scope spans synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital transformation, while simultaneously addressing the philosophical, ethical, and communicative dimensions that frame their societal impact.
The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Engin Obucic of International Burch University (IBU), who is also a co-author of one of the book’s chapters, written jointly with Prof. Dr Mersid Poturak. In his opening remarks, Dr Obucic emphasised that the publication is not merely a collection of specialised contributions, but a deliberately constructed interdisciplinary platform designed to foster systems thinking and responsible knowledge integration in an era of accelerated technological change.
A central theme of the promotion was the necessity of bridging disciplinary silos. Academician Prof. Dr Mirsada Hukic outlined the conceptual origins of the book, highlighting the editorial intention to connect diverse scientific fields within a coherent narrative capable of addressing complex global challenges. Prof. Dr Almir Karabegovic focused on the ethical governance of scientific progress, stressing the importance of aligning technological innovation with fundamental humanistic values. Enes Hukic addressed the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, analysing its implications for society at large.
The scholarly relevance of the publication was further reinforced through critical reviews delivered by experts from a range of disciplines: Prof. Dr Haris Halilovic (Social Anthropology), Prof. Dr Fatima Numanovic (Medicine), Doc. Dr Riad Konjhodzic (Genetics), and Prof. Dr Emir Burza (Engineering Sciences). Their reflections positioned the book as a substantive academic contribution that transcends disciplinary boundaries and promotes evidence-based, socially responsible discourse on science and technology.
The event was further marked by a brief address to the audience by the President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBiH), Prof. Dr Mirko Pejanovic, who emphasised the Academy’s continued commitment to supporting interdisciplinary scholarship and socially responsible scientific advancement.
The programme concluded with an open discussion involving the audience, underscoring the organisers’ commitment to dialogue, inclusivity, and intellectual exchange. Rather than serving as a purely ceremonial event, the promotion functioned as a forum for interdisciplinary engagement and critical reflection.
The book Science and Technology Are Changing the World ultimately affirms the strategic role of academia in mediating between scientific innovation and societal responsibility. By integrating scientific excellence with ethical reflection and public engagement, the publication contributes meaningfully to shaping a more informed, resilient, and forward-looking society.
